What is your best memory during your time with NRC?

When I joined I had 3 trainees under me who I developed into qualified engineers, it was also the start of a very special journey with the business.

What made you stay for all these years?

I like a challenge. The team would come to me with a big problem they dont have the solution to and I'd have to find a way to correct it - we've always got to make it happen.

What are you most looking forward to about retirement?

The honest answer is I dont have to come into work anymore. I've been working for 64 years now and I'm looking forward to the break. I loved everything about this job but at the same time I think I deserve some hard earned rest.

Have you ever had a particularly challenging or unusual job? How did you handle it?

There's been one or two that really took a long time. It was a case of troubleshooting until we found the diagnosis, biggest issue is finding the diagnosis can be very challenging at times. 2 that sprint to mind were 2 Link-Belt crane issues but we got there in the end.

What's made working at NRC special for you?

The specialist cranes that I got to work with on a daily basis, both that and the amazing people that I worked with made this role special for me.

How does it feel to be retiring?

If you asked me a couple of months ago I wouldn't have been ready. Now I can't wait.

Is there anything you’d like to say to your colleagues at NRC before you go?

Above all they're amazing people, helpful and a great bunch of lads. It's been a pleasure working with you all over the years. My last day is going to be an emotional one but I feel I'm ready. Adios!

From all of us, thank you for your years of dedication, professionalism, and commitment to safety. We wish you a long, healthy, and happy retirement filled with new adventures, well-earned relaxation, and precious time with family and friends.
